Key Responsibilities:
The role involves providing expert technical support for the IBM z/VM operating system. You will engage in the design, development, and execution of systems engineering initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing complex engineering tasks and activities.
- Acting as a knowledgeable technical resource, contributing both as a team member and an individual.
Essential Qualifications:
As a subject matter expert in z/VM operating system support, you should possess:
- Comprehensive knowledge of z/VM configuration, including networking protocols (TCP/IP and FTP).
- Expertise in problem determination and resolution for z/VM systems.
- Familiarity with IBM Service Request processes.
- Experience in ordering and installing maintenance updates.
- Proficiency in operating system version upgrades.
- Ability to code and maintain custom system utilities and exits (REXX and CMS Pipes).
- Experience in building z/VM guest systems (z/OS and Linux).
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will also have:
- Experience with program product installations from vendors such as CA and Broadcom.
- Skills in performance tuning using tools like Velocity Tools.
- Familiarity with secure VM environments.
- Experience in building and supporting Linux on Z virtual servers.
- Technical writing and process mapping capabilities.
- Knowledge of assembler programming.
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a first shift schedule, totaling 40 hours per week.
