Job Summary

Velociti is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing/troubleshooting of direct current and alternating current (DC/AC) electronics. You will also perform preventative maintenance on technologies for heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and repair/troubleshoot DC/AC electronics.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on technologies for heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Work with diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods, climb ladders, and lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Operate a variety of standard hand tools and power tools for extended periods per day.

Requirements
  • Associates in Mechanics or Diesel Mechanics/Automotive Engineering required.
  • 8+ years of experience as a mechanic, technician, or similar position required.
  • Must understand various voltage including DC, 12-volt DC to 48-volt DC, and alternating current electrical 120-volt to 480-volt AC.
  • Must have basic IoT and Technology troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced electrical skills, including digital voltmeter troubleshooting. Deep understanding of electrical circuits, engine data/CAN Bus and MOD Bus understanding.
  • Prior work with commercial fleet/DOT vehicles, diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment or specialty lines, preferred.
  • Prior experience with generators and pumps preferred.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company's insurance carrier.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and use of various Mobile Computing Device(s). Including Android apps and platforms.
  • Must supply own tools.
  • Must be able to work varied hours, including weekends and overtime to meet customer product availability timelines.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision. Maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Must have a professional appearance, be dependable and reliable.
  • Must have effective communication skills, demonstrating the ability to handle client interactions with tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members.
  • Ability to retain knowledge of standard operating procedures and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to needed changes of work.
  • Ability to work with diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods, climb ladders, and lift more than 50 pounds either with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have the ability to operate a variety of standard hand tools and power tools for extended periods per day.

Travel Requirements
  • Position involves extensive nationwide travel 85-90%.
  • Must be able to regularly travel for this position, including overnight or multi-night travel 7 days a week.
  • Initial 5 weeks of away-from-home for training.
  • Includes but not limited to 8-9 consecutive weeks traveling to customer sites.

Education or Certifications Requirements
  • Associates in Mechanics or Diesel Mechanics/Automotive Engineering required. Fully Certified ASE Mechanic or like certifications allowed in lieu of degree; Master ASE certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience as a mechanic, technician, or similar position required.
