Position Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for operating imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients as directed by the attending physician, adhering to established protocols. This role requires expertise in patient positioning and equipment setup to ensure high-quality imaging results. The technologist will prioritize radiation safety, employing techniques that minimize exposure while maximizing diagnostic efficacy.

In addition to general radiography, the technologist will operate CT scanning equipment to perform Computed Tomography scans, ensuring proper administration of contrast materials and monitoring for any adverse reactions. Accurate documentation and patient safety are paramount, with a focus on delivering exceptional care and maintaining high standards of diagnostic quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay informed of departmental policies and operational procedures.
  • Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of imaging equipment, including cleaning and quality assurance tasks.
  • Educate patients on the benefits and risks associated with imaging procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including IV placements and lab checks.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to imaging procedures and patient care.
  • Implement safety measures to reduce radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of diagnostic imaging techniques and protocols.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation of radiological equipment.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics when assisting patients and handling equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control regulations.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in radiologic imaging, including CT.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Valid state licensure and BCLS certification.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand, sit, and move frequently, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Vision capabilities must include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The role is set in a dynamic, fast-paced medical environment, where the noise level is typically moderate.
