Volkert is a Top 100 design firm committed to providing clients with creative solutions for sustainability. We are currently seeking a talented Bridge Design Engineer to join our Southwest Region team in Cottonwood Heights, UT.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs
- Review calculations and design details developed by others
- Perform load ratings on bridges of various type, size, and complexity
- Prepare structural drawings in MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Bridge inspections
- Review shop drawings and other related construction submittals
- Organize and maintain project files
- Cost estimating for various structural elements
- Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
- Work closely and effectively communicate with team members
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program. M.S. in Structural Engineering a plus
- 3-7 years of engineering experience in bridge design
- Course level or recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design
- EIT certification is required
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in Utah or ability to obtain is preferred
- Structural Engineering License (SE) in Utah or ability to obtain is preferred
- Familiarity with bridge analysis software, MicroStation, or AutoCAD is preferred
- Strong skills using MS Excel and MS Word
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to immediately work in the United States on a full-time permanent basis
