Job Description

The Benefits Coordinator plays a crucial role in our practice, managing patient insurance benefits, facilitating communication between patients and insurance companies, and ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to appointments.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain detailed information regarding coverage, benefits, and pre-authorization requirements.
  • Accurately input and update insurance information in the practice management software.
  • Educate patients about their insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities.
  • Provide patients with estimates of out-of-pocket costs for procedures.
  • Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims for endodontic services in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, ensuring prompt resolution and payment.
  • Post insurance payments and adjustments to patient accounts accurately.
  • Discuss financial arrangements and payment options with patients.
  • Set up payment plans for patients as needed.
  • Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays and deductibles.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including insurance information and communication logs.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements related to patient information and billing practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in insurance policies and procedures.
  • Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and answering phone calls, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure a smooth patient flow and exceptional patient experience.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay current with practice policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or certification in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a benefits coordinator or in a similar role within a dental or medical practice.
  • Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, billing procedures, and coding.
  • Proficient in using practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
