Job Summary

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse is a key member of the Mass General Brigham team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, collaborating with the Medical Director to develop, implement, and evaluate Individualized Treatment Plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Assess patients' modifiable risk factors and provide support and strategies for successful therapeutic lifestyle changes.
  • Supervise exercise sessions, monitoring participants for responses to exercise and adjusting individual exercise prescriptions as needed.
  • Develop and present educational programs and materials for patients and families on cardiac health, risk factors, and nutrition.
  • Manage urgent/emergent clinical issues, reporting significant changes in condition to referring physicians and seeking advice from supervising physicians as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records, documenting progress at each session.
  • Communicate with patients' referring physicians through progress reports and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in the collection, analysis, and reporting of individual patient outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Stay current in the field of Cardiac Rehabilitation through ongoing education and professional development.
Requirements
  • Adhere to all relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to function effectively under stress.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and current Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Hold certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Prior experience in Cardiac Intensive Care, other intensive care, or Cardiac Rehabilitation is desired, with experience in cardiac/telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition required.
