Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Security Operations Officer is tasked with overseeing and safeguarding City properties and community areas. This role involves assessing and reporting any unusual or suspicious activities while managing access to City facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular patrols of designated buildings and grounds, ensuring security measures are upheld by checking doors and windows.
2. Monitor surveillance systems for any irregularities, evaluating information to determine necessary actions.
3. Report any suspicious activities immediately via communication devices, maintaining contact with emergency services as needed.
4. Control access to facilities by verifying identification and directing visitors appropriately.
5. Identify and address unusual behavior among visitors, contacting authorities when necessary.
6. Oversee parking areas, managing traffic flow and assisting personnel in reaching their destinations.
7. Complete necessary documentation and generate detailed reports using computer applications.
8. Provide customer service by addressing inquiries and complaints from the public, both in person and over the phone.
9. Monitor various alarms and sensors, reporting emergencies and equipment malfunctions according to established protocols.
10. Respond to alarms and emergency situations, notifying staff of required actions.
11. Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure property security.
12. Check incoming vehicles at parking facilities to ensure authorized access, issuing warnings for unauthorized parking.
13. Utilize computer systems for door access control and may operate security screening devices for safety checks.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of two years of experience in security roles, particularly involving security cameras or public interaction.

Examination Process:
Successful candidates will be placed on a competitive eligibility list following the examination process, which includes various assessments to evaluate skills and competencies.

Hiring Process:
Selected candidates will undergo interviews, background checks, and drug testing as part of the hiring procedure.
