Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Sustainability Specialist to join our team at SAIIA Construction. As a key member of our environmental management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing project permitting strategies, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting sustainable practices throughout our construction sites.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental sciences and civil engineering, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental compliance. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing project permitting strategies and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Managing stormwater systems to comply with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES), including the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Best Management Practices (BMPs).
  • Identifying permitting requirements and timelines and securing permits from environmental agencies to support overall project schedule.
  • Guiding and promoting compliant, efficient work performance by developing environmental systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducting project reviews, including site visits to monitor compliance, resolve conflicts, and develop recovery plans.

You will work closely with our project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure that our projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 5 years' experience in environmental compliance, with a focus on project permitting and sustainability.
  • Strong knowledge of US and State of Virginia environmental regulations.
  • Experience working with energy management programs and US Health and Safety regulatory knowledge.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. This is a field-based position located in Chester, VA. You will be required to work at various construction sites across the region, with occasional travel to our office in [location].
