Company
Vaco is seeking a Legal Research Specialist to assist legal professionals with comprehensive research, training initiatives, and technology-driven projects. This position offers a hybrid work environment and will report directly to the Director of Research & Innovation.Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage a variety of legal and general databases for efficient inquiries and in-depth research.
  • Conduct investigative analysis on prospective clients, industry trends, and specialized topics.
  • Create and disseminate alerts and newsletters concerning legal cases, corporate developments, and relevant legal issues to attorneys and staff.
  • Support the organization and execution of training sessions customized for varying skill levels and technological expertise.
  • Facilitate both in-person and virtual training on research methodologies and tools for legal practitioners.
  • Manage and refresh content on the firm's internal platforms and educational systems.
  • Develop and maintain resource guides, pathfinders, and documentation to showcase the offerings of the Information Resource Center.
  • Contribute to knowledge management initiatives and assist with various special projects as needed.
  • Help organize and sustain the firm's legal knowledge resources.

  • Exceptional customer service orientation, combined with outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Genuine interest in ongoing education and staying updated with the latest legal research techniques and technologies.
  • Reliability and the ability to deliver high-quality service in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of curiosity and creativity.
Qualifications:
  • A degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science program and/or a JD from an ABA-accredited law school. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in a law firm setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in research tools such as Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, CapIQ, HighQ, and Intelligize.
  • Familiarity with business resources, specialized databases, and legal analytics platforms.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies; experience in web design is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills with a broad spectrum of legal professionals and staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
