Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Yale New Haven Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment.

About the Role
  • You will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care on a nursing unit/department according to unit policies and procedures.
  • As a registered nurse (RN), you will assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
  • You will develop, communicate, and document a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions to achieve desired outcomes, involving the patient, family, and healthcare team in this process.
Responsibilities
  • You will implement and coordinate the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team, evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, patient's response to care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan of care as needed and making referrals where indicated.
  • You will plan for education after assessing the individual learning needs and readiness of the patient and family, providing educational opportunities and documenting outcomes.
  • You will function as a preceptor to new staff and demonstrate the ability to provide a safe environment for self and patients.
Requirements
  • A valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License is required.
  • BLS certification is also required.
  • You must have the ability to use computer software, including electronic patient records.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
