Wythe Hotel – Head of Engineering

The Head of Engineering is tasked with overseeing the entire facility and its systems to guarantee the safety and comfort of all hotel guests, staff, vendors, and patrons. This role serves as the primary liaison for the Hotel's service and operations teams, empowering them to deliver an outstanding experience for every visitor.

This position also entails ensuring that Wythe Hotel adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities include preparing for and responding to inspections from various governing bodies, as well as ensuring that the Hotel remains compliant with all necessary filings, permits, and tests.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives on assisting colleagues and enhancing departmental success. The Engineering Department, under this leadership role, is essential to the Hotel's daily operations and overall success.

The Head of Engineering must exhibit excellent communication skills and maintain a positive, optimistic demeanor. They should be adept at managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, backed by a solid foundation of knowledge and experience in general building systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the building's infrastructure and hands-on maintenance of all systems.
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment and systems.
  • Lead the Engineering team, providing training and mentorship to ensure a friendly, efficient, and dedicated workforce.
  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and requisition parts as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate and prioritize repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and modifications to all relevant departments.
  • Track project deadlines and report progress to ownership and department heads.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair tasks are conducted in a clean and efficient manner to achieve optimal results.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with maintenance vendors and suppliers, collaborating with the Accounting Department to secure the best pricing for quality service.
  • Respond to guest and management repair requests promptly on a daily basis.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, managing programs to stay current with required testing, reporting, and training.
  • Maintain the Hotel's facilities in pristine condition; all public areas and guest rooms must be clean and well-presented at all times.
  • As the Hotel operates 24/7, the Head of Engineering must be available for emergency calls and respond swiftly to assist staff in resolving issues.


Required Experience

  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team of employees.
  • Preferred background in hotel-related engineering.
  • High level of competence in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler systems, cooling towers, elevator operations, sump pumps, and other building systems.
  • Hands-on approach to all responsibilities is essential.
