Position Overview:

The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for utilizing advanced imaging technology to produce detailed images of the heart and surrounding structures in pediatric patients, facilitating critical cardiovascular assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct echocardiograms on pediatric patients and ensure timely transmission for expert evaluation.
  • Incorporate patient medical history, documentation, and laboratory results to tailor sonographic examinations as needed.
  • Analyze, summarize, and relay initial findings to pediatric cardiologists, fellows, and nurse practitioners as appropriate.
  • Execute all necessary measurements and calculations for each examination in accordance with ICAEL standards.
  • Perform assigned laboratory functions as required.
  • Maintain operational records and assist in the upkeep of documentation pertinent to ICAEL certification and re-certification.
  • Provide education to patients, students, fellows, and new technicians regarding echocardiography procedures.
  • Engage in staff meetings, research initiatives, quality assurance projects, and collaborative efforts to support institutional and departmental objectives.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Program is required.
  • Must possess ARDMS certification or be eligible for ARDMS registry; graduates from CAAHEP accredited programs must achieve OB/GYN registration within 12 months of hire.
  • ARDMS credentials must be renewed annually.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in pediatric cardiac sonography is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, a solid customer service background, and proficiency in computer applications are essential.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound machinery effectively, interpret sonograms for diagnostic purposes, communicate findings to medical professionals, adhere to departmental protocols, and interact positively with patients and healthcare teams.
Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $59.62
