Overview

The Overnight Hotel Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of all financial transactions within the hotel. This position involves reconciling cashier activities, compiling management reports promptly, and verifying guest billing and city ledger transactions. Additionally, the auditor will engage in guest service operations, including check-in and check-out procedures, handling reservations, and managing switchboard operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret financial data and perform basic arithmetic functions effectively.
  • Be open to cross-training in various accounting or hospitality-related functions.
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Execute guest service responsibilities, including check-ins, check-outs, and reservations.
  • Review and reconcile financial and statistical reports accurately.
  • Generate and distribute daily reports, such as the Daily Operating Report and Tax Reports, in line with hotel standards.
  • Prepare and disseminate month-end financial summaries.
  • Audit and verify the work of Front Desk and Food & Beverage cashiers.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation and transmission of all credit card transactions.
  • Maintain accuracy in all reported figures, including statistics.
  • Input and update financial data into the corporate communication system.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual data processing tasks as required.
  • Keep management informed of any unusual operational or financial occurrences.
  • Strive for overall guest satisfaction.
  • Address governmental inquiries as they arise.
  • Attend to guest requests promptly.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least one year of relevant experience in hospitality or a related field.
  • Previous guest service experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is essential.
  • Flexibility in working long hours may be necessary.
  • The role involves sedentary work, requiring the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Must be available for late or overnight shifts.
  • Maintain a warm and welcoming demeanor consistently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with all levels of staff and guests.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by guests and employees.
  • Must be capable of multitasking and prioritizing departmental duties to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and colleagues in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all mandatory hotel meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards for attendance and appearance.
  • Uphold high standards of personal grooming and uniform compliance.
  • Follow Highgate Hotel regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
  • Focus on productivity, identify issues, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills, including anticipating and addressing potential issues.
  • Understand and apply complex information from various sources to achieve objectives.
  • Be willing to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Show initiative by anticipating guest and operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

The salary range for this position is $21/hr - $22/hr.
