Overview
The Nighttime Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of all hotel financial transactions. This position involves reviewing, organizing, and compiling management reports promptly while maintaining the integrity of guest billing and city ledger transactions. Additionally, the specialist will handle guest service responsibilities as needed, including check-ins, check-outs, switchboard operations, and reservations.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficiently manage and interpret financial data and perform basic arithmetic functions.
- Be open to cross-training in various accounting or hotel-related functions.
- Prioritize tasks effectively to meet established deadlines.
- Execute guest service functions as necessary (check guests in/out, manage reservations, etc.).
- Conduct audits and reconcile financial and statistical reports.
- Prepare and disseminate essential daily reports (e.g., Daily Operating Report, Tax Reports) in accordance with hotel standards.
- Compile and distribute month-end financial reports.
- Audit and reconcile all Front Desk and Food & Beverage cashier transactions.
- Timely audit, reconcile, consolidate, and transmit all credit card transactions.
- Ensure the accuracy of all reported figures, including statistics.
- Input and update financial data into the corporate communications network.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual data processing functions as required.
- Keep management informed of any unusual operational or financial occurrences.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction through attentive service.
- Address governmental inquiries as needed.
- Respond to guest requests promptly.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
- Previous guest service experience is preferred.
- Strong computer skills are essential.
- Flexibility to work long hours as required.
- Ability to perform sedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force.
- Willingness to work late or overnight shifts.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests.
- Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by guests and staff.
- Strong multitasking abilities and prioritization skills.
- Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
- Adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards for attendance and grooming.
- Comply with safety and operational regulations to promote efficient hotel operations.
- Identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions to enhance productivity.
- Demonstrate initiative by anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
The salary range for this position is $21/hr - $22/hr.
