MTA is actively looking for full-time Transit Drivers. The ideal candidates will prioritize exceptional customer service skills. MTA provides comprehensive training for all other requirements, including obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) through a structured paid training program with full-time hours and benefits.

Compensation: New hires begin at a training wage of $22.98 and transition to $24.52/hour upon successful completion of the training period. The full salary range is $22.98 to $30.65 per hour. This position is classified as non-exempt under FLSA regulations.

This position also qualifies for longevity premiums after 10 years of employment, uniform reimbursement, and potential additional compensation for specific circumstances.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Transit Driver is responsible for providing essential transportation services to the residents of Mason County and surrounding areas. MTA Drivers play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of vehicles, assisting passengers, delivering customer service, managing radio communications, maintaining records, and adhering to all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate passenger vehicles on designated routes while following traffic laws and MTA policies.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
  • Safely pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations.
  • Monitor passenger conduct and ensure a safe environment during transit.
  • Collect fares and provide accurate information regarding routes and schedules.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to maintain compliance with licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with five years of licensed driving experience.
  • No moving violations in the past three years and no at-fault accidents in the last five years.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.

Preferred:

  • Possession of a valid CDL with passenger endorsement.
  • Experience in customer service roles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Capable of working varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
