This role is designed to support the Coordinator of Educational Programs within correctional facilities, ensuring the effective management of off-site educational initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating placement assessments for students.
  • Overseeing the operation of computer labs and offering technical support to learners.
  • Collaborating with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) to promote the educational mission of Sinclair Community College.

The individual in this position will also be tasked with monitoring all facilities and equipment utilized for program delivery, ensuring compliance with Sinclair Community College and DRC policies, particularly regarding security protocols.

Regular communication with the Coordinator of Prison Educational Programs for the Advanced Learning (AJT) initiative, as well as interaction with the Regional Manager and other AJT personnel, is essential.

Compensation: $23 per hour
Work Schedule: Flexible daytime, evening, and weekend hours available.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Acting as a representative of Sinclair Community College and serving as a liaison with the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
  • Coordinating on-site activities related to certificate programs, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and policies.
  • Providing essential support services to enhance student success, including orientation, registration, tutoring, and access to educational resources.
  • Assisting in the orientation of faculty and staff, including facilitating security clearances and managing instructional space.
  • Supervising the use of on-site facilities and providing necessary technical assistance to students.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a correctional environment or a closely related field is required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including faculty, administrators, and correctional staff.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service with a focus on ethical awareness and respect for diversity.
  • Willingness to assist at various correctional facility locations as needed.
