Clinical Educator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Educator to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals. As a Clinical Educator, you will play a critical role in enhancing specialized patient care within clinical protocols and facilitating evidence-based research in nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational leadership to enhance professional growth and development among nursing staff
  • Identify and report environmental conditions that may put patients at undue risk
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their care by asking questions and reporting concerns
  • Develop patient plans of care incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards
  • Monitor trends and implement educational strategies to ensure quality standards are achieved
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Educator and other team members to plan and implement pertinent curricula
  • Educate staff on the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing
  • 18 months directly related experience
  • RN licensure in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification within 90 days
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months
  • Basic Arrhythmia Certification within 1 year

Working Conditions:

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials requiring PPE
