Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Media Operations Specialist to join our team at TeamPeople. In this role, you will be responsible for the acquisition and management of live and recorded media via satellite, fibre, and IP technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in broadcast engineering and a proven track record of providing exceptional technical support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level support for various MCR sub-systems to maintain services on air.
  • Ensure healthy operating conditions of MCR systems and services, identifying service-impacting anomalies and alerting appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Analyze and diagnose systems faults/alarms occurrences, analyze services incidents, and report to broadcast engineering and services providers as applicable, following up on rectification progress.
  • Take part in the implementation of MCR preventive and corrective maintenance plans, take part in MCR systems updates and upgrades through assessing changes and risk on operations.
  • Communicate with the Facilities Section to coordinate the flow of incoming news or programs.
  • Operate the core technical facilities for the acquisition of live news via satellite, fibre, or IP technology.
  • Undertake quality control and transcoding of all incoming streams or package transfers to media servers.
  • Coordinate effectively with operators in the field to support remote operations via satellite, fibre, and IP networks.
  • Report clearly in the booking system all issues observed during transmissions.
  • Identify faults and take immediate preventative action to restore traffic.
  • Undertake routine testing, preventative, and corrective maintenance of transmission systems and ancillary equipment.
  • Provide technical operational and engineering support to other technical areas within the broadcast centre.
  • Ensure correct satellite access procedures are implemented on leased space capacity.
  • Ensure the monitoring and adjustment of incoming video streams according to broadcasting technical standards.
  • Provide level 1 and level 2 equipment support to crews in the field.
  • Report technical issues to handovers and ticketing systems.
  • Operate DTL camera position.
  • SNG - Field operations.
  • MCR / Ingest rooms in other broadcast centers.
  • Ensure accuracy of handovers and logs.
  • Train new staff.
  • Take part in writing new standard technical operational procedures or changes required.
  • Correct technical operational diagrams and/or workflows if required.
  • Assist engineering department for project work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by his/her superiors/DLM.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in electronics/telecommunication/broadcast engineering and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a 24-hour news MCR environment or working in a media technical department. A strong understanding of RF systems, digital compression systems, and major baseband broadcast equipment is essential. Additionally, excellent analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a commitment to solving problems quickly and effectively are required. Fluency in English is also necessary.
