As a Communications Specialist at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our members, stakeholders, and the public. You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to engage with our audiences, promote our mission and values, and advance our goals.

**Key Responsibilities**
* Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with our members, stakeholders, and the public
* Write and edit press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials
* Respond to media inquiries and provide expert analysis on regional issues
* Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop content for our website, social media, and newsletters
* Maintain relationships with media outlets and communicate effectively with reporters and editors
* Work with senior management staff to plan and execute major events such as our annual meeting

**Requirements**
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
* 2-3 years of experience in writing and producing publications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
* Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to different styles and formats
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public
* Ability to work under deadline and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
