Part-time Bookkeeper Clerk

Job Summary:
The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-time Bookkeeper Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for processing transactions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full-charge bookkeeping duties, including journal entries, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Salvation Army accounting processes and procedures.
- Apply accounting principles to post journal entries, analyze financial information, and prepare financial reports for The Salvation Army.
- Code, review, and post accounts payable invoices.
- File check copies and related documents according to established procedures.
- Obtain W-9 forms as needed.
- Prepare sales reports and vehicle sales reports for submission to The Salvation Army.
- Assist the internal auditor with audit preparations as needed.
- Handle auto donations process.
- Prepare invoices through Shelby AR for internal and external vouchers, billing, collection, and reconciliation.
- Work with the senior accountant and director of business to ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Prepare lists of eligible vendors for The Salvation Army Command for 1099 processing at year-end.
- Match store deposits to daily sales and credit card postings and process CP daily reconciliations.
- Identify incoming wire transfers and post in AR regularly.
- Prepare weekly gratuities.
- Maintain files on open accounts receivable and communicate with the senior accountant on a weekly basis.
- Meet standard work hours and demonstrate support for The Salvation Army's mission and vision.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software, including Shelby Systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
