Job OverviewPosition Summary:

Company Background:Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) specializes in advanced software testing, data analytics, and cybersecurity solutions tailored for intricate, mission-critical systems within the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). We are currently in search of a Technical Systems Architect to join our dynamic team.

Role Responsibilities:The Technical Systems Architect will play a pivotal role in enhancing IDT's Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capabilities for automated testing and analysis of tactical systems and subsystems that support DOD platforms and communication systems. Familiarity with MBSE practices, along with experience in the development and testing of complex systems and embedded software, is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Implement software life-cycle methodologies encompassing requirements analysis, architectural design, software development, and testing for automated system testing capabilities.
  • Develop and evaluate systems engineering and architectural models utilizing MBSE techniques.
  • Conduct MBSE-oriented reviews and technical evaluations that guide significant technical decisions.
  • Generate and sustain SysML artifacts to represent system structure and behavior.
  • Assist in managing requirements, interfaces, and architectural changes within a SysML framework.
  • Engage with clients regarding technical and programmatic matters.
  • Contribute to business development and proposal creation efforts.

Essential Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering or related disciplines.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.

Required Competencies:
  • Proficiency in leading the elicitation, decomposition, and allocation of customer requirements into feasible solutions within technical, scheduling, and budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with Lead Developers, Program Managers, and Chief Engineers to document, manage, and communicate systems and software requirements effectively.
  • Experience in DOD or complex commercial software product development.
  • Familiarity with the development of processes and tools that support the analysis and testing of product functionality and performance during the development phase.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering/Model-Based Software Development utilizing SysML or UML.
  • Proficiency in using Systems Modeling Tools such as Rhapsody and MagicDraw/Cameo.
  • Understanding of requirements management processes associated with SysML methodologies and artifacts.
  • Experience with DOD communication systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in creating Plugins using a Modeling Tool's API (Rhapsody/MagicDraw/Cameo).
  • Familiarity with DOORS or other requirements management systems.
  • Experience in system integration and testing for complex software applications, including knowledge of software testing tools.
  • Experience in Navy testing programs, practices, and assets.

Compensation Range:

$85,500 - $139,650 or $102,600 - $179,550

*This compensation range is provided in accordance with California Senate Bill 1162, which mandates the disclosure of the pay scale associated with job postings. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT often seeks to fill multiple positions at various levels, hence the inclusion of more than one pay range based on experience.
