Job Summary

The Clinical Nutrition Expert II collaborates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver patient care that aligns with the medical goals and objectives focused on the patient.


This role encompasses the application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), which includes conducting nutrition assessments, establishing nutrition diagnoses, creating and executing nutrition interventions, and monitoring the patient's progress.

The Clinical Nutrition Expert II utilizes the Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework (SODPF) to define their practice scope, adhering to established Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (SOP/SOPP) in nutrition care, while also integrating evidence-based practice protocols and nutrition guidelines.


Clinical Nutrition Experts II operate independently at a competent to proficient level on pediatric and obstetric units/clinics, managing more complex patient cases, such as those in intensive care units and specialized pediatric gastroenterology clinics.

They also serve as a mentor and resource for Level I dietitians.

Essential Functions

All duties must be performed in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and Code of Conduct.

Clinical Nutrition Experts II are expected to perform all functions of Clinical Dietitian Level I.


They play a crucial role in at least one performance improvement initiative or outcome-based research project annually or create/revise two nutrition protocols or patient education tools each year.


They direct initiatives that measure process, outcomes, and structures using quantifiable indicators to assess the effectiveness of programs, services, or activities.

They gather specific data to evaluate program success or participate in nutrition research studies, sharing findings through reports, presentations, and publications.

They also mentor and train Clinical Dietitians I.

Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications


Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with any necessary licenses or certifications, is acceptable.


Education:
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and a supervised practice program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education and Dietetics.


Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required.

License/Certification:
RD/RDN (Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist) - Valid credential as a Registered Dietitian / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist issued by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Comprehensive understanding and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.

General knowledge of electronic medical records, nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.

Effective communication skills in written, verbal, and electronic formats with patients, the public, and medical staff.

Excellent counseling abilities and the capacity to engage with a diverse community and varied learning levels.

Ability to work independently in assigned patient care units and/or outpatient clinics.

Critical thinking skills to integrate facts, informed opinions, active listening, and observations.

Decision-making, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to foster productive relationships with multidisciplinary teams and support services.

Pay Range

Compensation is determined by the level and requirements of the role.


Salary within our ranges may also be influenced by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members start at the minimum to mid-salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $100,339.20 to $118,476.80
