GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the general guidance of the Sales Manager, the primary role of the Sales Associate is to deliver exceptional service regardless of whether a purchase is made. This position requires maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere by greeting and acknowledging every customer and colleague. Reliability, responsibility, and dependability are essential traits. Attention to detail and thoroughness in task completion are crucial. Sales Associates will spend extended periods on their feet, navigating the showroom floor, and may occasionally conduct in-home consultations with clients. They are responsible for accurately and efficiently processing all sales transactions and effectively communicating customer service concerns and requests to management.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Sales Associates are tasked with promoting and selling merchandise displayed on the showroom floor; engaging directly with both internal and external customers; following up on customer orders and inquiries; assisting with any merchandise-related issues in collaboration with customer service and warehouse operations; working collaboratively with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction; asking customers questions to better understand their needs regarding products, pricing, availability, and usage; explaining product features in an easily understandable manner; recommending and assisting customers in selecting merchandise based on their specifications; preparing sales tickets for completed orders; and staying informed about new products, policies, and current store promotions. Excellent customer relations are paramount, including following up with customers through various communication methods. Additional duties may be assigned by management as needed.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Candidates must be able to lift merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs to facilitate the selling process (including moving rugs); the ability to stand or walk for extended periods is required; effective listening and responsiveness to customer needs are essential; strong communication skills with team members are necessary; prior sales experience is preferred but not mandatory; a positive attitude when interacting with both internal and external customers is essential.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: To effectively perform the essential functions of this role, an employee must be capable of performing the following: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, climbing, crawling, walking, pulling, lifting, talking, listening, and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs and occasionally lifting up to 10 lbs to move objects.
Work Environment: This position is based in an indoor climate-controlled environment.
