POSITION OVERVIEW

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is in search of a meticulous and proactive individual to fulfill the role of Clerical Assistant 2 within the Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution at Laurel Highlands. This position is ideal for those who possess a strong affinity for clerical tasks and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will engage in moderately complex clerical duties adhering to established operational protocols. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Providing support in office or program functions, including the review and processing of data, information, forms, and other documentation.
  • Entering and managing data within computer systems.
  • Creating and formatting various documents while ensuring accuracy and organization of information.
  • Performing mathematical calculations and maintaining comprehensive files and records.
  • Assisting the public with governmental forms and inquiries regarding programs and services.
  • Offering general clerical assistance to colleagues and departments to enhance office efficiency.

This role requires minimal supervision for daily clerical tasks, although guidance will be provided for novel situations or changes in procedures.

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full-time employment at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Standard work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Eligibility for full retirement benefits is available at ages 60 or 65.
  • Starting annual salary for new hires is $35,306 (before taxes).
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Six months of experience as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title);
  • High school graduation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is mandatory.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions is required.

Legal Requirements:

  • Passing a background investigation is necessary.
