POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for conducting fundamental inspection activities within petroleum and petrochemical facilities, including terminals and refineries. This role also encompasses inspection duties aboard vessels, adhering to industry regulations and the established protocols of API and Saybolt.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct visual inspections for cleanliness of storage tanks, including entry into confined spaces.
  • Ensure the precision of measurement instruments.
  • Operate safely in environments with hazardous materials, as outlined in relevant Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Collect product measurements and samples; execute necessary calculations accurately and promptly; complete required documentation efficiently; perform inventory checks; and undertake non-petroleum or chemical inspection tasks as assigned.
  • Fulfill additional inspection-related responsibilities as directed by the Manager or Scheduler.
  • Adhere to procedural, safety, and quality standards as detailed in Saybolt manuals, the Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt policies.
  • Participate in training sessions and successfully complete examinations related to petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection protocols, including Right-to-Know training and hazardous materials transportation safety.
  • Acquire knowledge of basic and advanced laboratory techniques through cross-training opportunities.
  • Meet the qualifications necessary to obtain a TWIC card within the initial employment period.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience as an Inspector or in a related field.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Maintain a professional appearance and exhibit strong customer service skills.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos. Proficient in writing basic correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings within the organization. Must be able to communicate both written and verbally in English.


MATHEMATICAL COMPETENCE

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various units of measure. Competence in calculating rates, ratios, percentages, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and interpreting relevant data and tables.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to execute detailed written or oral instructions. Capable of addressing problems involving a limited number of concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

Inspectors must possess a reliable vehicle in safe operating condition for both personal and sample transportation under varying weather conditions. Vehicles used for sample transport must accommodate secondary sample containers. Inspectors are required to maintain adequate automobile liability insurance and comply with all state regulations concerning vehicles used for assignments. A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory. Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments may be necessary.
