Job Title: Addiction Counselor

We are seeking a skilled Addiction Counselor to join our team at Marion County Health and Human Services. As a part-time counselor, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of treatment settings, providing individualized substance use disorder treatments, including ASAM assessments, individual and group therapy, and recovery peer support.

Job Summary:

The Addiction Counselor will perform counseling and case management functions for persons served and their families. This includes preparing and maintaining service records, developing and maintaining skills to provide direct addiction treatment services, and facilitating individual and group services.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain skills to provide direct addiction treatment services and program area support for adults, adolescents, and families.
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate individual and group services while creating and maintaining a caring and supportive environment.
  • Perform substance testing through the use of breathalyzers, urine, and/or oral tests.
  • Conduct assessments and determine the level of care and placement most appropriate for clients.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to develop service plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical records in accordance with federal, state, county, and treatment program expectations.
  • Coordinate services with community partners to provide holistic care.
Requirements:
  • Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a current MHACBO (Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon) CADC I (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or higher.
  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
  • The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
  • This is a safety-sensitive/special needs position, and the finalist will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position, eligible for overtime, with a flexible schedule, depending upon the needs of the department and program.
