Network Planning Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Planning Engineer to join our team at Technology Consulting, Inc. in Melbourne, FL. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity that requires US Citizenship and a Public Trust Security Clearance prior to start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Planning and Design: Design and implement new enterprise systems to meet emerging program requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • System Troubleshooting and Enhancement: Update, troubleshoot, and enhance solutions within tools such as BMC Remedy, CA/Broadcom Spectrum, CA NFA, Splunk, OwnCloud, Infoblox, etc.
  • Automation and Scripting: Automate routine job functions in Python, BASH, or PowerShell as applicable, streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Support: Schedule and execute maintenance requests for proactive engineering projects and break-fix scenarios, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Vendor Interaction: Interact directly with vendors for issue resolution, fostering strong relationships and resolving complex problems.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot daily status of the health of infrastructure and services within an operations center utilizing management and monitoring tools.
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Support on-call responsibilities and work after-hours as required, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the team.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Ability to impart knowledge and train others, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: 6+ years of prior related experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology.
  • Enterprise Experience: Solid experience working with enterprise-grade application suites, including network monitoring protocols/methods such as SNMP, NetFlow, and Syslog.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in one or more of the following domains: Network Management Systems (Splunk, IPAM, and Infoblox), Networking principles and systems functionality, Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS) and Microsoft Windows OS, Development of clear and concise technical procedures.
  • Soft Skills: Adept troubleshooting skills, ability to learn quickly, and operate in a collaborative team environment.
  • Certifications and Clearances: Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Oracle WebLogic, Apache Talend, and/or Solace Messaging Routers: Experience with these technologies, demonstrating expertise in complex system integration.
  • Agile Software Development and Systems Engineering Lifecycle: Experience with Agile software development and the systems engineering lifecycle, showcasing ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Web Services APIs, Perl/Python Scripting, Bash, Ansible: Knowledge of these technologies, highlighting ability to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
  • VMware VCA, VCP; NetApp NCDA, NCIE; RedHat RHCSA: Preferred certifications in these areas, demonstrating commitment to professional development and industry recognition.
