Job Overview - Medical Billing Specialist:

CPa Medical Billing, a leading provider in healthcare revenue management, is seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to enhance our Accounts Receivable team. This role is crucial in ensuring timely payments for healthcare services rendered.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Account Management:
    Handle aged accounts for designated payers, focusing on those nearing filing deadlines. Regularly address current rejections and make necessary corrections for resubmission.
  • Eligibility Verification:
    Utilize payer websites or direct communication to confirm patient insurance coverage. Update patient accounts promptly and manage self-pay billing as required.
  • Credit Balance Analysis:
    Investigate credit balances to ensure accurate patient billing. Review accounts on hold and release them as appropriate.

Appeals Process:
  • Initiate and track appeals in accordance with payer guidelines, ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up until resolution.

Accountability and Reporting:
  • Document all actions taken on accounts and maintain comprehensive notes. Prepare for management meetings and provide updates on work status as needed.
  • Meet established deadlines and goals, reporting any issues with systems or payers to management promptly.

Collaboration:
  • Assist colleagues by sharing knowledge and providing support when necessary to enhance team performance.

Professional Development:
  • Engage in training and development opportunities as directed by management. Stay informed about payer rules and coding standards to prevent claim errors.

Compliance:
  • Adhere to all company policies and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work. Participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and accounts receivable.
  • Availability for full-time work during standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Strong independent work ethic in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred experience with GE Centricity and/or EPIC systems.
  • Completion of a medical billing/coding program or certification is highly desirable.
