ROLE SUMMARY: The Outpatient Clerk is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the outpatient clinic, creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients seeking mental health services. This position is crucial in facilitating patient access to necessary care and support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage appointment scheduling for assessments, medication reviews, and individual therapy sessions.
  • Conduct daily reminder calls to patients regarding their appointments.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Front-End Log to track collections, authorizations, and referrals.
  • Collect patient copayments and deductibles efficiently.
  • Calculate patient financial responsibilities based on benefits verification.
  • Assist patients with inquiries related to billing and insurance verification.
  • Coordinate referrals by scheduling appointments to ensure timely access to services.
  • Accurately enter patient data and clinical notes into the electronic health records system.
  • Organize and maintain both physical and electronic patient records.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, business administration, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of two years of experience in an office setting, particularly within outpatient psychiatric services, is preferred. Strong organizational, administrative, and customer service skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. Familiarity with the insurance verification process and healthcare facility compliance is advantageous.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: CPI/CPR Certification as per policy.
