Lead Electrical Engineer

Job Overview:
The Senior Engineer is responsible for crafting robust electro-mechanical designs that ensure the functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of electrical systems in heavy-duty vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct engineering analyses and design or redesign electrical systems and subsystems for both existing and new vehicle models.
- Provide integration and execution support for the development of vehicle control and embedded systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned, adhering to client specifications and industry standards, including creating one-line schematics that illustrate mechanical, electrical, and thermal connections.
- Possess a solid understanding of electro-mechanical power systems, components, and concepts, including generator sizing and component placement.
- Demonstrate knowledge of high voltage systems and maintain high voltage electrical safety protocols.
- Estimate and calculate available power and vehicle loads with limited information.
- Assist senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, computation methods, and reports.
- Oversee a project or a segment of a project with limited complexity and may support multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and external suppliers as necessary.
- Ensure proper space allocation for wiring, thermal management, and mounting of components on vehicles by utilizing installation manuals and design experience.
- Design and integrate electrical components and circuitry into heavy-duty vehicles, understanding vehicle powertrain and related systems.
- Provide technical support for prototype, pilot, or production builds, including troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience with electro-mechanical power systems, high voltage systems, and safety protocols, along with prior experience in vehicle design and integration.
- Ability to design thermal management systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with programming languages and control software.
- Knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 and vehicle networking.
- Experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair or design.
- Experience in wire harness design.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
