Position Overview:
The Radiation Therapy Technologist plays a crucial role in administering radiation treatments to patients battling cancer while maintaining precise records of these treatments. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Administering prescribed radiation doses to designated body areas, utilizing radiation therapy equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assisting in the scheduling of patient procedures.
  • Providing education to patients about the procedures and equipment to ensure their comfort and understanding.
  • Documenting any equipment malfunctions and notifying management accordingly.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The perfect candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • ARRT certification, ODH certification, and a valid BLS certification in radiation therapy.
  • Strong communication skills to convey patient care and technical information effectively.
  • Ability to perform well under minimal supervision and in high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include:

  • Administering radiation doses while adhering to safety protocols for patients and staff.
  • Educating and preparing patients and their families by addressing questions and providing necessary assistance.
  • Assisting physicians with brachytherapy procedures as required.
  • Scheduling patient treatments and simulations.
  • Conducting quality assurance tests on equipment to ensure proper functionality and reporting any issues.
  • Maintaining clean and organized treatment areas and notifying staff of low supply levels.
  • Supporting radiation oncologists and physicists in preparing treatment plan simulations.
  • Calculating initial treatment dosages in compliance with Radiation Oncology System entry requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate treatment records and staying updated on new technologies through literature and seminars.
  • Providing supervision and feedback to students in the Therapy and Radiologic programs.
  • Reviewing images with students and offering evaluations for formal reviews.
  • Performing other assigned duties as necessary.

Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education of Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and eligibility for registry.

Certifications:
Must hold a Radiation Therapist License in the State of Ohio.
ARRT certification is required.

Work Experience:
Proven ability to operate radiation equipment safely and effectively.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to perform duties involving walking, standing, stooping, reaching, and lifting. Candidates must be able to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs and assist patients by pushing or pulling over 100 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adherence to Standard Precautions and use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
