APTIM Environmental and Infrastructure is seeking a junior to mid-level engineering professional well-versed in environmental engineering principles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a commitment to delivering high-quality results while collaborating with a distinguished team of Engineers, Geoscientists, and licensed professionals. Responsibilities will include environmental media sampling, managing soil, water, and air treatment systems, overseeing construction operations, ensuring quality control, handling hazardous materials, and participating in emergency response initiatives. Proficiency in MS Excel for data collection and automated logging is essential, as is the ability to utilize existing templates and create new ones for effective data presentation.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will engage in various engineering tasks related to the planning, execution, and oversight of environmental remediation and assessment projects within our Dallas, Texas office. Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for effective collaboration with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients. Under the guidance of a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer, the engineer will develop expertise in design, installation, and operational phases, assist field personnel through remote troubleshooting, manage treatment system data, supervise larger projects, and oversee project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support environmental remediation and construction projects at various client sites, primarily in Texas and occasionally in other states.
  • Perform engineering tasks such as project planning, drafting, equipment selection, data collection and analysis, report preparation, and support for field technicians and operators.
  • Implement field activities and supervise project site personnel, including subcontractors.
  • Conduct general environmental tasks, including oversight of environmental scopes, inspection of project work, and limited sampling of groundwater, soil, and air.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Participate in on-call environmental field support activities, which may require 24-hour phone support and local site visits.
  • Receive project briefings from Project Managers and Engineers, manage time effectively to meet project needs, and work with increasing independence over time.
  • Primarily support APTIM's TCEQ Superfund Program and Texas Solid Waste Engineering program, with secondary support for other services.
  • Travel within the state is required, approximately 25% of the time.
Qualifications:
  • 2-8 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering, with a preference for candidates having at least 3 years in the field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and web search tools; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, and Google Earth is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to accept guidance from senior engineers and managers.
  • Utilize best practices to enhance products or services within the discipline.
  • Monitor and manage costs associated with work, solving moderately complex problems and re-evaluating existing solutions.
  • Manage time to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; degrees in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering are preferred.
  • Must pass a hazardous materials handling physical and occasionally wear a full-face respirator for hazardous work activities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary for regular travel to project sites.
  • Local travel is common, with some overnight travel required.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in low voltage AC electrical systems, ladder logic programming, and data acquisition.
  • Participation in engineering-related extracurricular activities is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds from the floor.
