Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Agent/Specialist to join our team at Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. for our joint venture Dry Dock project located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

This position is responsible for the procurement, scheduling, and coordination of shipments to ensure the successful completion of the construction project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, production scheduling, and contract negotiation with vendors and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate or receive field purchase requisitions and work with project management for approval.
  • Research vendor/supplier prices, delivery dates, and other relevant information through written bids or verbal quotes.
  • Negotiate and place purchase orders with selected vendors and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Negotiate equipment rental agreements with suppliers, document terms, and complete insurance forms.
  • Negotiate and place long-term or "blanket" purchase orders for routine materials and administer such contracts.
  • Expedite and coordinate material deliveries, resolve invoice issues with accounting, and ensure quality requirements with Engineering.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • A four-year degree in a technical or business field or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction material procurement.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement and vendor inspection techniques and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial management.
  • Business contract law is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
