OverviewAs a result of our ongoing expansion, TRC Field Services (FSV) is looking for dedicated Relay Test Technicians to enhance our Client Teams throughout the Northeast Region of the United States. These roles require significant travel, with fieldwork expected 75% of the time.
With a robust team of over 200 skilled utility and industrial commissioning engineers and test technicians, TRC provides thorough, cost-efficient solutions to our Electric Utility Customers, coupled with top-tier training programs and mentorship opportunities for career advancement.

Our personnel undergo rigorous in-house training to ensure efficient project initiation and compliance with client standards. We adhere to established procedures and protocols to guarantee safe and comprehensive planning and testing, effectively managing risks and ensuring uninterrupted operations.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to the installation, testing, inspection, calibration, and repair of system protection devices, transducers, and equipment (including microprocessor-based and electronic relays, circuits, protective controls, switchboards, and other substation apparatus) on clients' electric transmission and distribution networks.
- Basic understanding of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) principles and protection schemes.
- Ability to interpret construction and manufacturer’s drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in reading and understanding schematic diagrams.
- Capable of utilizing a relay test set to verify protective device settings. Familiarity with Doble Protest, SEL AcSELerator, and ENOSERVE RTS is advantageous.
- Competent in operating computers and relevant software necessary for fulfilling job responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve issues promptly, exercising sound judgment.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills essential for performing job duties.
- A valid driver's license from the state of residence in good standing is required.
Required Qualifications
- An associate degree in industrial electrical, instrumentation and control, or electronics is preferred, along with two years of progressively responsible experience in system protection directly related to the installation and maintenance of electro-mechanical and electronic relays and control systems used by electric utilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Goose Messaging is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to regularly climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to one hundred pounds. Employees must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands for manipulation, and reach with arms. Lifting or pulling heavy cables and equipment over 50 pounds is necessary, along with the ability to work at ground level and in confined spaces. Vision requirements include close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation
In accordance with local regulations, the salary range for this position is applicable based on the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Additional Compensation: Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program, which is contingent on company, business segment, and individual performance against Key Performance Indicators that may vary each year.
