Role Overview

The Assistant Jury Administrator plays a crucial role in overseeing the jury management system and ensuring the effective organization of jury lists to provide qualified jurors for court proceedings in Yavapai County. This position encompasses the responsibilities of summoning, screening, and managing jurors as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees the coordination and management of juror summoning and assignments for court sessions; facilitates juror orientation and tracks attendance; supervises the Grand Jury process.
  • Maintains comprehensive data within the jury management database; delivers exceptional customer service through various communication channels.
  • Evaluates juror compensation statutes and gathers relevant information for analysis.
  • Manages the procurement and inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Processes jury payroll and distributes debit cards along with necessary correspondence.
  • Assesses the qualifications of new jurors.
  • Contributes to the development of procedures and documentation related to jury operations; compiles statistical and management reports.
  • Maintains accurate records and oversees a recorded messaging system for jurors.
  • Trains and mentors team members.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in jury management or within a court setting.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Paralegal Certification is preferred.

  • Operation of jury management systems, including data entry and retrieval.
  • Regulations governing court operations.
  • Arizona laws and codes related to jury service.
  • Business English, including spelling, grammar, and composition.
  • Clerical procedures and office practices.
  • Current Microsoft Office applications.
  • Recordkeeping and filing systems.

  • Effective verbal and written communication, including face-to-face and telephone interactions.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to:
  • Understand and implement jury management procedures.
  • Complete detailed tasks accurately and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding court matters.
  • Comply with the Arizona Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees and relevant county policies.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.
  • Foster effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Keep management informed of significant operational issues.
  • Stay updated on relevant knowledge and skills.

Work Environment:
The position is primarily office-based, with a well-lit and ventilated workspace.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, sufficient vision for reading documents and screens, and the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Must be capable of repetitive movements and able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds.
