Join the Perception Team at Waymo

Waymo is a leader in autonomous driving technology, with a mission to make transportation safer and more accessible. Our Perception Team is responsible for building the system that enables our self-driving cars to "see" the world around them.

We're looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our Perception system. As a member of our team, you'll work on novel research to address real-world perception problems and collaborate with research teams at Alphabet.

Our team has access to millions of miles of driving data from a diverse set of sensors, enabling researchers like you to develop complex models and techniques at scale. Improvements deployed to our system can immediately advance our large fleet of autonomous vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) that provides sensor data to Perception through a unified API.
  • Work with a creative team of people who are responsible for the bring-up of new hardware platforms (vehicles, sensors, compute) and for building a multi-platform software stack.
  • Collaborate with research teams to develop novel perception algorithms and techniques.
Requirements
  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with sensor data processing (Lidar, camera, or Radar).
  • Experience with building, integrating, debugging, and evaluating ML-based systems.
  • Experience programming in C++ with robust and efficient code.

We prefer candidates with a MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience. Experience with autonomous vehicles (L4) or ADAS systems (L2/L3) is also a plus.

Waymo employees are eligible to participate in our discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

Salary Range: $158,000 - $200,000 USD
