Job Title: Technical Lead, Perception

Waymo is a leading autonomous driving technology company with a mission to create the most trusted driver. Our team is dedicated to building the Waymo Driver, a cutting-edge system that enables safe and efficient transportation. As a Technical Lead, Perception, you will play a critical role in developing and deploying perception systems that power our autonomous vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of perception platforms that integrate multiple sensors and data sources to enable safe and efficient navigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement perception algorithms that meet the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.
  • Drive the deployment of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs) to enhance perception capabilities.
  • Promote collaboration with research teams across Alphabet to advance the state-of-the-art in perception and sensor fusion.
Requirements:
  • Deep learning expertise, including recent innovation in large pre-trained foundational models and architecture performance optimizations.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) or Vision Language Models (VLM).
  • Execution mindset and skills in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or an equivalent amount of deep learning experience with 8+ years of experience.
  • Strong background in perception-related domains, such as object detection/classification, scene understanding, transformer modeling, model scaling, self-supervised learning.
  • Publications at top-tier conferences like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, RSS, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCV, PAMI.

Waymo employees are eligible to participate in our discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements. The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is $272,000 - $346,000 USD.
