Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Coding Auditor and Education Specialist to join our team at ProMedica. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for providing training, audit, and billing education services to our providers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and coordinate an educational plan that encompasses accurate documentation, coding, and billing procedures based on specialty.

2. Conduct regular audits of provider documentation/coding accuracy, summarize information, and make suggestions to improve processes.

3. Recognize inaccurate dictation and documentation trends and issues, and collaborate with the office manager/operations director, physicians, and staff to correct.

4. Provide scheduled educational seminars regarding coding/billing updates and changes.

5. Work with providers one-on-one to facilitate accurate documentation and coding.

6. Provide coding education to billing staff, as needed.

7. Collaborate with the billing manager in the coordination of appeals to obtain appropriate and/or additional reimbursement.

8. Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with the billing manager, operations director, physicians, and staff.

Requirements

Education: Associate degree in a related field.

Skills: Strong commitment to customer service, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. Extensive experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years of coding experience with physicians, including experience performing physician coding audits.

Certification: CPC, RHIT, RHIA, CPMA, CEMC, or CCC.
