Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Education & Outreach Specialist III to join our team at Lucas County, Ohio. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing public outreach and education to taxpayers, assisting with services provided by the Lucas County Auditor, and performing various clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide public outreach and education to taxpayers through road shows, seasonal events, and other outreach activities.
  • Assist with services provided by the Lucas County Auditor, including answering questions, retrieving information, and resolving problems.
  • Perform various clerical duties, such as data entry, scanning, and mail processing.
  • Retrieve and deliver mail, greet visitors, and staff the front counter.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries received in person, by phone, by fax, and by electronic mail.
  • Search files and pull requested information using manual and computer systems.
  • Maintain daily records of transactions and reconcile charges and monies.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas, desks, counters, and shelves.
  • Follow up with taxpayers to ensure quality service.
  • Support the efficient running of the BOR Department during the BOR season.
  • Assist Department Managers and Director as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of clerical experience in an office setting.
  • No reprimand or discipline for one year prior to applying.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, via telephone, and via email.
  • Skilled in customer service.
  • Ability to get along with others, including customers, colleagues, directors, staff, and other county agencies.
  • Basic high school mathematical ability.
  • Skill in operation of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Display sound understanding and compliance with office/department policy and procedure.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment and processes.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and flexible hours.
  • Ability to read and follow directions.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with co-workers and management on group projects.
  • Excellent work habits and ability to maintain punctual, dependable attendance.
  • Ability to complete and seek new assignments without supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to manage time and communicate with management when work cannot be completed on schedule.
  • Must have a serviceable vehicle available for work-related travel and maintain liability insurance coverage.
  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
