Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team at Optum. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling and Triage: Schedule and triage appointment requests for urgency according to approved protocols consistent with Optum's Appointment and Scheduling Guidelines.
  • Communication and Documentation: Use call processing and other applicable functionality in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to take messages and communicate with clinicians. Greet patients and conduct check-in process.
  • Administrative Tasks: Monitor daily reminder call logs to reschedule appointments as needed. Scan and index documents into the EHR; ensure that necessary documents, lab results, etc. are available in advance of patient visits.
  • Financial Management: Close payment batch(es) at the end of each shift, assemble and balance batch(es) according to Optum cash control procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist coworkers as needed to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • Experience: 1+ years of receptionist experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical Skills: Experience working with an electronic health record
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology, office administrative/receptionist/clerical experience in a medical environment, customer service experience in retail, hospitality, etc.
Compensation and Benefits:

Connecticut Residents Only: The hourly range for Connecticut residents is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
