Job Summary

The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial and accounting activities of TOTAL WAREHOUSE Inc, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy of financial reporting. This role will work closely with senior management to support strategic decision making and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and prepare reports accordingly.
  • Manage the general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Establish and maintain accounting internal controls according to GAAP.
  • Depreciation schedules and recording according to company policy.
  • Aide in creation and implementation of accounting SOP's.
  • Assisting with year-end audit and keep up audit schedules throughout the year.
  • Research accounting issues and financial trends.
  • Keeping records and extracting summary data for key financial areas.
  • Managing financial computer systems and any future interfaces for reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee and conduct performance evaluations for AP/AR department.
  • Support aging reports and data.
  • Provide monthly summaries on the financial health of the organization and provide recommendations as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership in the organization.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel necessary and a must (i.e. Pivot tables, charts, v lookup, conditional formatting, etc.).
  • CA Sales Tax Returns.
  • ERP experience a must, NetSuite a Plus.
  • Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Advanced excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (masters preferred).
  • At least 6 years' experience in accounting.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be in good physical condition and have good motor skills.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Proficiency in using a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, and financial reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 10-15 pounds (e.g., files, laptops).
  • Willingsness to work longer hours during peak financial periods (e.g., month-end close, budgeting season).
  • Ergonomics: Understanding of ergonomic practices to maintain comfort while working long hours at a desk.
