Job Summary

The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial and accounting activities of TOTAL WAREHOUSE Inc, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy of financial reporting. This position will be responsible for managing the accounting team and working closely with senior management to support strategic decision making and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and prepare reports accordingly.
  • Manage the general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Establish and maintain accounting internal controls according to GAAP.
  • Depreciation schedules and recording according to company policy.
  • Aide in creation and implementation of accounting SOPs.
  • Assist with year-end audit and maintain audit schedules throughout the year.
  • Research accounting issues and financial trends.
  • Keep records and extract summary data for key financial areas.
  • Manage financial computer systems and any future interfaces for reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee and conduct performance evaluations for AP/AR department.
  • Support aging reports and data.
  • Provide monthly summaries on the financial health of the organization and provide recommendations as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, charts, v lookup, and conditional formatting.
  • CA Sales Tax Returns experience.
  • ERP experience, with NetSuite a plus.
  • Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (master's preferred).
  • At least 6 years' experience in accounting.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be in good physical condition and have good motor skills.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Proficiency in using a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, and financial reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 10-15 pounds.
  • Willingness to work longer hours during peak financial periods.
  • Ergonomics: Understanding of ergonomic practices to maintain comfort while working long hours at a desk.
