Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Veterinary Pathologist (job level will be based on experience) to become an integral part of our Development team, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer. This role involves engaging in and assessing preclinical-stage studies that are essential for advancing our next-generation gene therapy initiatives. The Veterinary Pathologist will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, offering critical insights into toxicologic and investigative pathology studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive gross and microscopic examinations of tissues and organs derived from preclinical studies.
  • Deliver expert analysis of histopathological findings, correlating these with clinical and laboratory data.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of preclinical studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and scientific principles.
  • Draft detailed pathology reports and communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in the identification and validation of innovative biomarkers and toxicity mechanisms.
  • Assist in regulatory submissions by providing pathology expertise and aiding in documentation preparation.
  • Oversee the histology laboratory team.
  • May undertake additional related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
  • Board certification from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (DACVP).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in investigative and toxicologic pathology within the biotechnology sector.
  • Extensive experience in evaluating Animal Models.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in life sciences.
  • Experience with advanced imaging techniques and molecular pathology.
  • Familiarity with GLP regulations and experience in regulatory submissions.
  • Experience in AAV gene therapy.
