Caregiver Support Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver Support Specialist to join our team at Caregiver, Inc. Our mission is to enable individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead their unique lives with dignity, independence, and inclusion.
Job Summary:The Caregiver Support Specialist will provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, facilitating daily living activities, promoting independence, and empowering them to make choices. This role requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional care and support, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Responsibilities:- Facilitate daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.
- Provide direct support to individuals in training activities, as specified in ISPs and activity schedules.
- Aid in mobility as needed for individuals using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
- Assist in bedroom maintenance and teach housekeeping skills and care of clothing.
- Assist with meal service, teach dining skills, and promote social skills and personal dignity during meals.
- Administer medications and treatments according to company policy.
- Be assigned as a Primary Person (P2) for one or more individuals, ensuring their wellbeing at all times.
- Attend and successfully complete in-service training sessions as scheduled.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to fellow Direct Support Professionals.
- Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.
- Assist individuals in transportation as needed.
- Participate as a member of the Individual Support Team, giving input toward the individual's ISP.
- Monitor individuals' activities to ensure safety and health care practices are observed, and Universal Precaution Practices are followed.
- Participate in and may be responsible for the daily operation of the home in one or more of the following areas: grocery shopping, overseeing individuals' money, monitoring of the physical plant and van maintenance, or monitoring of the house medications.
- Perform related duties as required or assigned to fulfill the agency philosophy and the goals and objectives of the program site.
- Treat individuals with dignity and respect.
- Promote independence, choice, and empowerment of individuals.
- A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
- Some previous experience in supporting/assisting individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
