Senior Spacecraft Battery Engineer

As a Senior Spacecraft Battery Engineer at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), you will lead the development of advanced power systems for space flight missions. This role is perfect for experienced engineers who want to contribute to groundbreaking projects like Dragonfly and IMAP.
About the RoleThis position involves leading the design, development, and testing of electrochemical batteries for multiple space flight programs. You will work closely with Systems Engineers to develop battery requirements based on spacecraft system needs. Your primary responsibility will be to perform electrical design, including power interfaces, telemetry signals, thermal control, and fault protection.
You will collaborate with packaging, structural, thermal, and other engineers to design batteries meeting challenging requirements. Additionally, you will prepare specifications, statements of work, drawings, parts lists, test plans, procedures, test reports, and review packages. Modeling, simulation, and worst-case analysis will also be part of your responsibilities, as you will present at design reviews.
