Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician I to join our team at Forrest General Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our pharmacy operations.
  • Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas, maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Conduct inventory management, inspecting drug storage areas and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions, labels, and other pharmacy-related documents with precision and attention to detail.
  • Provide technical support services to pharmacists, including answering questions and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest pharmacy practices and technologies.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by management and supervising pharmacists.

  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, interacting with staff, patients, and families in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient and family needs in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Meet physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, and lifting, to deliver medications and supplies as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory requirements, including the 340B program, and ensure compliance in all aspects of pharmacy operations.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, including inventory management and patient information.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain licensure and certification requirements.
  • Perform technician duties as deemed appropriate by management and supervising pharmacists, including entering and submitting claims for insurance.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; courses in science and math helpful.
  • Preferred but not required: work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
Mental Demands:
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, cooperate with others, take orders, and follow directions precisely.
  • Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload.
  • Ability to set priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
