Position Overview: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at Friday Services is responsible for implementing and upholding company policies that comply with local, state, and federal EHS regulations. This role involves developing operational areas and procedures while providing EHS recommendations. The specialist will also prepare, maintain, and update EHS policy manuals and documentation to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all EHS policies, including newly created and existing procedures mandated by governmental authorities.
  • Assist in integrating and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Assess, identify, and uphold EHS training requirements across various sites.
  • Supervise daily operations to guarantee adherence to safety protocols by all employees.
  • Draft clear documentation outlining EHS policies and procedures for both manufacturing staff and management.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including completing EHS reports, collaborating with management, and gathering information on incidents to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide training and oversight to employees regarding EHS regulations.
  • Monitor EHS practices within personnel and workspaces.
  • Evaluate potential physical and chemical hazards and implement necessary measures to mitigate them.
  • Assess and audit the effectiveness of hazard control initiatives.
  • Manage equipment and processes related to EHS projects.
  • Propose solutions for areas needing improvement.
  • Report environmental injury and illness data to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for workers' compensation claims.
  • Be prepared for changes in duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 & 45001 EHS management systems.
  • OSHA certification or MESH Certification is advantageous.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of EHS engineering processes and practices.
  • Capability to conduct audits and prepare reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • English proficiency is required; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to Canada as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended durations.
  • Capability to lift and move objects as necessary.
  • Travel may be required up to 30% within the US and Canada.
