We are currently seeking a Manager, Safety to enhance our commitment to safety across our utility-scale solar projects. This role requires proactive leadership at project sites to foster a culture centered on safety, teamwork, and collaboration. Please note that this position is classified as safety-sensitive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and uphold the company's safety initiatives at utility-scale solar sites.
  • Effectively communicate the company's safety philosophies and values to all personnel, including craft labor, staff, construction managers, superintendents, and project managers, ensuring compliance and commitment to safety protocols.
  • Lead safety initiatives and cultivate a positive safety culture.
  • Engage with field teams daily to support the implementation of safety programs and encourage ownership of safety practices.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, including orientations, toolbox talks, committee meetings, and corporate safety updates.
  • Conduct thorough job site safety inspections and audits.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees demonstrating both safe and unsafe behaviors.
  • Oversee incident investigations, focusing on root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and address site safety concerns in collaboration with operational leaders for timely resolution.
  • Review internal safety and operations reports to ensure essential safety information is integrated into project planning.
  • Coordinate and respond to OSHA audits as directed by the Regional Safety Manager and safety leadership.
  • Ensure prompt notifications for serious incidents are communicated to the Regional Safety Manager and operational leaders.
  • Assist construction leadership in Job Safety Analysis, Plan of Day, and other relevant meetings.
  • Recommend processes and safety features to minimize employee exposure to hazards.
  • Maintain comprehensive health and safety documentation and training records in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Safety Manager and safety department leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and health.
  • Previous managerial experience is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electrical safety is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operations is a plus.
  • Background in the solar or renewable energy sector is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is beneficial.

Education and Certifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • OSHA 500 outreach training is mandatory.
  • OSHA 510 certification is required.
  • BCSP Certification (e.g., CHST) is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • This position necessitates travel to various project sites.
  • Travel may reach up to 100%.
  • Compliance with all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA regulations, is essential.
  • Work is conducted in outdoor environments, requiring tolerance for varying climates.
  • Physical capabilities must include sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, or walking for extended periods (8-10 hours daily).
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally is required.
