Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for precisely estimating project costs through comprehensive line-item budgets categorized by trade with unit costs.

This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines. Responsibilities also encompass building and sustaining robust relationships with clients and vendors.


Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain valuable relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Perform initial assessments of drawings and specifications to confirm the presence of necessary documentation and define the scope of work for estimates.
  • Examine electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings along with other documents to aid in the preparation of detailed estimates.
  • Oversee the creation of bid documents and proposals.
  • Independently manage large and/or multiple project estimates.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and personnel from other departments to develop accurate estimates.
  • Review contracts for awarded projects to ensure they reflect our exclusions, clarifications, and the proposed scope.
  • Handle bid follow-ups.
  • Participate in job walks and pre-bid meetings as necessary.
  • Record all activities and sales-related data in the CRM system (BuilderTrend).

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in budgeting and estimating for commercial construction projects, including offsite civil and underground utilities, commercial tenant improvements, multifamily, retail, and prevailing wage work. Knowledge of concrete, grading, and restaurant projects is a plus.
  • Proficiency in interpreting commercial architectural and construction plans, specifications, and takeoffs.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in BuilderTrend, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills along with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks, work under tight schedules, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Resourceful and diligent in problem-solving and adapting to new situations.
