POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves performing standard quality assurance functions. Responsibilities include overseeing internal quality assurance and compliance for various databases in accordance with state and federal regulations. The position requires verifying the accuracy, completeness, and legitimacy of legal documents submitted by law enforcement and judicial entities. Training of others may be required. The role operates under moderate supervision, allowing limited independence and initiative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Examine and evaluate applicant submissions and criminal history records, identifying deficiencies and ensuring compliance with service delivery standards and policies.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of applicant submissions, criminal history records, and legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Communicate final decisions regarding applicant submissions and criminal history assessments to relevant agencies and the public.
  • Interpret and relay information concerning internal rules, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance policies and standards.
  • Analyze quality control findings to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to approved work hours as per agency policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education - A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree from an accredited four-year institution in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.

Experience - A minimum of three years of experience in criminal history records, auditing, compliance, or quality assurance is required. Educational qualifications may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Licensure and Certification - Candidates must obtain TLETS/NLETS and TCIC/NCIC Basic Procedures Certification through a TXDPS training course within six months of employment. A valid driver's license from the state of residence is required if driving is necessary for the position.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Regulatory Knowledge - Must possess a working knowledge of TXDPS, state, and federal regulations regarding the management and dissemination of criminal records.

Interpersonal Skills - Ability to maintain professionalism and establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Organizational Skills - Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment while meeting deadlines.

Communication Skills - Capable of delivering clear and professional presentations and reports to diverse audiences.

Analytical Skills - Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw accurate conclusions.

Technology Proficiency - Proficient in CJIS systems, TCIC/NCIC databases, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be able to learn new software as needed.

Confidentiality - Must handle sensitive information responsibly and adhere to relevant laws and policies.

Safety Compliance - Must adhere to safety standards and practices at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position is primarily office-based, requiring various physical activities such as standing, walking, and sitting. Candidates must be able to lift weights up to 25 pounds as needed.

State of Texas Benefits:

Employees selected for positions within the same salary group will maintain their current salary. Those selected for a new title within the same salary group may receive a salary increase of no more than 3.4%. Salary is contingent upon qualifications and subject to budgetary constraints.
